Ruth Dunsky
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Music and dance inspire my work and I find graceful shapes and a sense of movement everywhere in nature. I seek to capture the beauty that I see in nature and in the faces and expressions of people in my drawings and paintings.
Art studies and exhibitions
Ruth began her art studies while at Sir George Williams University (now Concordia). Later, she took classes with private artists before deciding to study Interior Design at Dawson College.
During her more than 20 years as an interior designer, whenever business slowed down, she pursued her interest in art by taking classes at the Sadie Bronfman Centre for the Arts until the school closed.
After retiring from her interior design career, Ruth put her energies into painting and studied with Rita Briansky and other Montréal artists. Since 2015, she has participated annually in summer workshops at St. Lawrence College in Ontario.
Ruth has worked in oils, pastels and more recently in acrylics. She also enjoys drawing.
